Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

August 3, 2014 - Back in Nacogdoches!

When we last posted from Nacogdoches, we were at the garage to have the motor home engine valves adjusted, and a few other small items taken care of ... It turned out the old bus had other items needing attention.

The good folks at the shop did as Paul requested: "Look the bus over and do what has to be done"

Well, there was more "to be done." So instead of spending one or two days at the shop, it extended to nearly a week. Necessitating leaving the motor home in Nacogdoches and drive the Honda to Houston to pick up a grandson to spend a week with us.

We had reservations at an RV Park "close" to the George Bush airport (IAH), and cancelled them in favor of a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Pearland, TX just south of Houston. It was a good choice and Zane enjoyed his time with us, at the motel and at the various sites we visited, sans riding in the motor home (which he had done a year or two earlier). We also introduced Zane to the Cracker Barrel restaurant. He loved the food!

We took Zane to the airport yesterday, and drove to Nacogdoches to meet with the mechanic and settle our bill for all they did to make our home on wheels safe. We had visions of a VERY large bill. It was high in a way, but we believe it was not nearly as costly as it would have been had we gone to the other mechanics in Nacogdoches. After watching the mechanics work on the air bags (8 needed replacing), the fuel lines (needed to be replaced), etc, we were confident our motor home would be in good hands while we were in Houston.

We paid our bill and parked where we spent a couple of days when we first arrived in Nacogdoches (Forest Glen RV Park).

Paul was quite impressed with the new sound of the now properly tuned engine! So we feel we did the right thing in getting these folks to minister to our "patient."

We drive to Livingston later today and will be there overnight. We'll pick up our mail there on Monday before heading toward western Texas and Fremont, CA.

And so the journey continues!

10/19 - IT IS SO much easier to blame other people, conditioning, or conditions for our own stagnant situation. But we are responsible--"response-able"--to control our lives and to powerfully influence our circumstances by working on be, on what we are. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
