June 15, Goodbye Minnesota.....

Our last few days in Minneapolis were zipping by so quickly that we wanted to yell out "Slow down!" Visiting with the family is full of wonderful events that we've treasured in our hearts and memories.
The day after Sebastian's birthday was the birthday of our beautiful granddaughter, Juliana.
The wonderful summer of 1994 was memorable for several reasons: Grandson Graham was born on June 8th. That birth was quickly followed by the arrival of Juliana on June 10th! - evening up somewhat, the boy/girl population in the family! Almost one month later (that same "birthing" summer, Kitty gave birth to Jesse on July 5th. Today we boast of 7 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. Unless Joe and John get into the game - that's it, grandchile-wise!
We enjoyed adding flowers to the Wichester yard. The boys were commandeered into service. Michelle ponders where to place each of the many plants she's purchased.
Graham, wielding the shovel, is ready to dig some holes!
Sebastian and PaPa are busy putting in some flowers. They make a great team!
Zane uses all his strength to poke some holes in the yard for the flowers.
The front yard looks particularly inviting.
The following morning PaPa and Zane enjoy a little "soccer" while waiting for the rest of the family to get in the car!
For several days we accompanied Michelle and her friend Kathy looking for the right site for Michelle's new venture.
After one such forage, we stopped at "Rusty Taco" - a spot Zane particularly enjoys.
The Rusty Taco
We all enjoyed the tasty tacos!
Father's Day was a special day for us. First of all, we were able to celebrate with Sade and PaPa ...Slade was happy with his greetings and gifts,
PaPa too, enjoyed his greetings and gifts!
Everyone enjoyed the Father's Day lunch. The previous day Slade and Michelle took us to a marvelous fish market where they purchased some sushi fresh salmon. All the Winchester kids are very adept at creating sushi. It was fun to watch them combine the rice, fresh salmon, finely cut cucumber and carrots and create some professional looking Sushi dishes!
Once the delicious lunch was over, the older kids cleared the table and did the dishes as Slade, Seb, Zane, PaPa and Clip Clop prepared to take a ride on the newly completed trolley from Minnesota to St Paul. Working hard to get the dishes "done" - Janina, Thibault, Graham and Cody
This extension of the "Light Rail" was just opened, and June 14 and 15 invited all interested to take the ride from downtown Minneapolis to downtown St Paul!
We waited at the Target Field House for our ride to St Paul.
The cars were full of tourists and local citizens wanting to ride for free! Once we reached St. Paul we debarked and walked to the newly refurbished Grand Central Station - quite impressive!
Back to the house after our excursion, we met Janina's mom, who was able to stop over en route to a business meeting in Wisconsin. We all went to one of the family's favorite restaurants, a Greek restaurant and had a delicious meal, but also had a chance to enjoy Janina's mom, Linda. What a nice person, and we hope we'll see her again!
Michelle and Slade enjoyed meeting Linda, too, and were glad everyone liked their choice of restaurants!
PaPa and Zane look as though they enjoyed their meal, too!
This was our final day in Minneapolis - what a grand time we had, visiting with the boys (several of them are nearly "men" by now). We were kept busy enjoying the sight of Minneapolis (thanks to Sade for the "Tour of downtown Minneapolis".) We were grateful that most of the days were rain-free! And we especially enjoyed being part of the Minnesota family again. Meeting Janina and Thibault was a real thrill. We are sure the family will miss the presence of Thibault, whose time in Minneapolis has also come to a close, and we hope we can keep in touch with this friendly young man.
What a marvelous end to our short time in Minneapolis. With heartfelt thanks to Slade, Michelle, Cody, Janina, Graham, Seb, Zane and Thibault. You all make our hearts soar like an eagle!!!
Love and Peace, Kathleen and Paul

|6/23 - SYNERGY IS EVERYWHERE in nature. If you plant two plants close together, the roots comingle and improve the quality of the soil so that both plants will grow better than if they were separated. If you put two pieces of wood together, they will hold much more than the total of the weight held by each separately. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. One plus one equals three or more. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey|
