Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

June 8 - Happy Birthday (again) Graham

On Sunday , June 8th, Graham celebrated his 20th birthday!

Did he get a day off from work so he could celebrate his big birthday? No, he did not. Going from the "teens" to adulthood takes a price - and our birthday boy had to go into work at 5:00 pm as usual.

But wait! the Winchesters are known far and wide for their adaptability and for Graham, a grand "lunch" was held to celebrate. The requested repast was Panini - Kathleen had never heard of it, but when the kitchen counter was truly laden with several kinds of sliced meat - just a couple come to mind, Prosciutto, sliced beef. Cheeses (Mozzarella and Provolone to name just two)- a variety of fresh vegetables, sliced tomato, leaf lettuce, onion, to name three, and other ingredients that put together.

8046 The sandwich is then put in their Panini Toaster,

A delicious and delectable sandwich was created!

Everyone seemed to love their panini sandwiches!

As the Panini was toasted, folks matriculated to the back yard where the birthday celebration continued!
There were presents galore (well, enough to make a 20 year old man happy!

And what's a birthday party without a cake?

So our 20 year old gentleman enjoyed two meals - both "lunches" that turned out to be gastronomical wonders, and we hope Graham, surrounded by his family, enjoyed them both!

And here's our man!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR GRAHAM!!!

12/17 - THERE ARE SOME people who interpret "proactive" to mean pushy, aggressive, or insensitive; but that isn't the case at all. Proactive people aren't pushy. They're smart, they're value driven, they read reality, and they know what's needed. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
