Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

June 6 - Picnic Time!

Today, the two of us were late in going to the "Big House" from Lowery RV Park and Campground. When we arrived, we were so pleased to see Michelle - Slade had gone to work before coming back to the house. She sure looked good!

We had a great visit, but a short one for the day. Seems that this evening, the school (Sebastian's and Zane's) was holding their final get-together of the school year. This is an annual event, and the family was anxious to attend.

The dinner is a "pot luck" affair and when Slade came in from work he had several large bags of fried chicken. Michelle, Paul, Zane and Seb drove to the park in the van, but Slade and Kathleen rode in the convertible! What a thrill ride! We "beat" the others, and good that we did, as I was able to commandeer the last available table! When Michelle, Paul and the boys arrived, the table was set, and folks were already lining up to participate from the excellent and ample tables of food.

Most of the children were playing on the expansive lawns

There was a bit of rain, but it wasn't cold rain, and we had a grand time, rain notwithstanding!

We knew some of the parents from previous visits and were happy to meet and greet them! This group has always been so warm and make us feel so welcome

The food was delicious, and we ate a hearty dinner, watched the children at play and visited with folks. What a nice experience!

This young man has been staying at the Winchester's since early this year. Thibault (pronounced TiBo) is from France and has won the hearts of all who know him. (He's #13 of our grand kids!) When we went to the picnic dinner, he and Paul had a chance to chat awhile..... but not for long, as ALL the students love Thibault! He'll be leaving soon, and he will be sorely missed.

10/19 - IT IS SO much easier to blame other people, conditioning, or conditions for our own stagnant situation. But we are responsible--"response-able"--to control our lives and to powerfully influence our circumstances by working on be, on what we are. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
