Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

Truth be told, the MANY casinos and hotels just a block from the KOA park probably have taken away many customers from this particular KOA. We were surprised at the number of Casinos until the we saw that West Wendover is the first gambling town for those traveling east to west ...

We stopped at a "Smiths" grocery store for supplies, and though we had no "Smith Store Card" the fellow at the check-out gave Kathleen the card discount! Nice guy! (Saved us $9.00)

We send good luck to the folks at the W Wendover KOA, and looked forward to our travels into and across Utah.

It seemed that as soon as we crossed from Nevada into Utah the first sight was the sea of salt! 7701 The Bonneville Speedway is at the western edge of this state and we recalled our several crossings of Utah over the years. Would Utah, like Nevada give us many surprises of sights we could not recall?

We were not long into Utah when we experienced "road work" for a long, long time!

Driving along we saw much evidence of "art work" in the salt fields. Most creations used stones, and many a message in the salty ground: "----- loves ------" - some made pictures out of stones and small pieces of bark. One impressive work of art was a depiction of Mitt Romney .. it was quite impressive! 7706

The highway passed the area where our family "swam" in the Great Salt Lake years ago, (Great Salt Lake Marina) - but since no tourist places are open, we hardly noticed the Marina as we passed. We did recall enjoying several hours in the Great Salt Lake years ago... we were there in the summer when the water was pleasant!

Eventually we reached Salt Lake City environs, and we must report how well marked are the roads. Paul did an excellent job of cruising along south and then east, skirting the city, and taking the beautiful canyon to the east of the city. It is called Parleys Canyon, and is the most traveled canyon because it is the route for I-80, one of the area's main arteries. From the freeway we could see forested glens and inviting side roads. It is one of the most beautiful canyon drives we have driven. Hills, curves, ups and downs.... all the way to the border between Utah and Wyoming.

We crossed the most narrow area of Utah, so our drive west to east in Utah ws not long, and we reached a very lovely RV Park to spend a night in Lyman, WY where we found a nice KOA. 7759 7769

(We "never" stay at KOAs, but so far these are the best choices for us.) The place is situated in a quiet, green area and we felt lucky to come upon one with such hospitable managers!

4/25 - INTEGRITY MEANS AVOIDING any communication that is deceptive, full of guile, or beneath the dignity of people. "A lie is any communication with intent to deceive." Whether we communicate with words or behavior, if we have integrity, our intent cannot be to deceive. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
