Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

3/11/04 - Los Barriles to Cabo San Lucas

We surely hated to bid farewell to this lovely little camp. This was such a nice area - restaurant right on the premises, beach just a few steps away, laundry done for us (at a small cost) - and the weather has been great.

However, the road calls, and off we went farther south to the tip of this beautiful Baja peninsula. The drive did not change our thoughts of traveling in Mexico, but we all traveled with care, stopping when needed, and ever watchful of on-coming trucks and vans.

It seemed a long ride (to me) - though it was only 63 miles. The closer we came to Cabo San Lucas, the more crowded and congested grew the traffic. We passed through Cabo San Jose (didn't really have a chance to see if it was as nice as friends have suggested, but we were anxious to reach our "home" for the next few days.

As usual, Larry gave us excellent directions and we were soon negotiating the turn that would take us to the Villa Serena Trailer Park. It really is quite nice - the scenery is delightful and we have enough room to park in comfort.

Paul and I walked over to the restaurant which overlooks the Bay and we enjoyed a drink to celebrate our safe arrival.

We can see there will be much to see in this busy "American-like" town.

Shortly after returning, Melba and John Hinricks took me (I have a membership!) to a Costco. Yes, there is a Costco close to camp, and it is just like any in the US - only they speak Spanish and use pesos instead of American dollars.

Melba and I "stored up" our provisions, and John waited patiently. He is anxious to see if he can charter a fishing boat so he might catch a blue marlin! (They tell us that fishing has not been good lately... but perhaps he'll prove them wrong!)

We look forward to some new experiences tomorrow..... Paul, Kathleen and Jerry Too

4/25 - INTEGRITY MEANS AVOIDING any communication that is deceptive, full of guile, or beneath the dignity of people. "A lie is any communication with intent to deceive." Whether we communicate with words or behavior, if we have integrity, our intent cannot be to deceive. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
