Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

3/12/04 - Cabo San Lucas

Early this morning (9:00) half of our group went by courtesy of those who have "toads" to a glass blowing factory. The other half of the Caravaners went at 11:00.

It is a popular place for tourists, like ourselves, and a number of other visitors watched with us as the workers took balls of fire out of furnaces and created the most intricate and charming objects. We watched the creation of a little glass elephant.

Believe it or not, that is going to become the cutest little glass elephant!

We saw flowers "come into bloom" - even some of our members tried their skill at blowing glass...

Here's Connie Ross showing her skill at glass blowing!

After the enjoyable and enlightening visit to the glass factory, some of us drove through the town of Cabo San Louis --- it was a zoo! No place to park at all, so we returned back to our RV park. Some took to the beaches via car, some made a trip to a Costco which is new and is very close by. (We went yesterday!) Others spent their “free time” doing laundry, reading, playing games, and/or sitting around and relaxing.

Our valiant Caravan Team spent several hours negotiating with a local resident to guard the compound the next few nights. Unfortunately, several of our group had the unhappy and unexpected experience of having some things taken from them. Gene and Connie had their toad broken into and some things were taken. Herm and Dorothy had a bicycle stolen. Thank God, no one was hurt, but that's why Larry and team decided on getting a guard. We are very close to the road, so thieves can run off with articles with too much ease. We've all been very lucky so far, and hopefully this will be a once-only thing. It sure has made the rest of us more cautious of leaving things around!

After we returned from our excursion to the Glass Blowing Factory, we pretended like we were guests and enjoyed the lovely small beach at a time-share(?) near our RV Park in Cabo.

Looking down, you can see the nice little beach!

The water was just the right temperature!

Then again, it could get pretty rough - and give quite a splash!

Doesn't this look like a little tiny whale next to Paul?

Now he's landed his whale!

This spiral stair case is just nearing completion, and was a treat to descend to the beach!

As you can see, they are extending the existing condo complex, and the workers were busy finishing this section.

If you look to the left side of the spiral stairs, you might be able to make out the original stairs that must have washed away, or were somehow destroyed.

We enjoyed the new staircase! It sure beat climbing down the rocks!

What you see on the rocks are little crabs! The surf was too rough to catch any!

We were a bit surprised to find St. Francis here at the resort. Can you see "brother wolf" next to him ... no, that's K on is left - the wolf is on his right!

Something else we did today was to put up our awning. We’ve never put it up yet, and we were very lucky to have our friend, Bill, give us instructions!

It's so nice to have someone around who's done this time after time!

Ann came by and gave her “OK” on a job well done! Don’t Paul and Bill look proud of themselves?

Who has more fun than people?

8/24 - WHEN TWO WIN/LOSE people get together--that is, when two determined, stubborn, ego-invested individuals interact--the result will be Lose/Lose. Both will lose. Both will become vindictive and want to "get back" or "get even," blind to the fact that murder is suicide, that revenge is a two-edged sword. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
