Kathleen and Paul are owners and live on site. So you'll get quick response to your needs and access to your washer/dryer in the basement.

Your apartment is only 100 feet from Grand Avenue and only 100 more to beautiful Lake Merritt where the winter birds are arriving. And runners abound.

Your Saturday Farmer's Market is closeby under/around I-580. Trader Joe's is just a few more feet. Whole Foods Market is walkable from your apartment. Sprouts Farmers Market is on Broadway and Safeway is closeby on Grand Ave.

Then there's the classic Grand Lake Theater. You'll find many good restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. Walking Grand Ave and Lakeshore at night always reminds me of the Left Bank of Paris.

This area truly is a gem and Kathleen and I are glad and happy to live here. You will be too.

March 1 - Relaxing in Guasave

Today’s editor is Sam Childs (with good assistance from his lovely wife, Sandy.) Thanks to Connie Sykes for the great photography!

Sam and Sandy (Rig #5) are from Tampa (real Floridians!) They have two daughters – Beth Ann and Debra with whom their husbands Ruben and Bob have their three wonderful grand kids – ages totaling four going on seven.

Sandy and Sam have been motor coaching for 14 years and love the lifestyle. They’re not "exactly" full-timers yet, but they motorhome as often as possible.

Here is their journal for Monday, March 1st (also the birthday of their daughter, Debra! Happy Birthday, Debra from all the Caraveners!)

Today, March 1st, we spend the second of three days at Playa Las Glorias, which is somewhat like the Florida Gulf beaches – with darker sand and colder water - just waiting to be found by tourists. We have cool breezes, palm trees and beautiful evening skies.

Did I mention that our caravan is AT the beach – a couple hundred yards from the Sea of Cortez?

Looking for clams... Sharon, Connie, Billand Paul

Dinner is our only scheduled event. Relaxed, friendly campers.

Today is a "regrouping – reload day" with a palapa Mexican dinner as our only scheduled event. Relaxed, friendly "campers" sleeping in – washing rigs and "toads."

Dorothy will wash your rig for a few pesos a foot. (Just kidding!)

WATER. Now something that one actually thinks about! After a week of "dry camping" aboard the train, re-supply is by reverse-osmosis water in 5-gallon plastic containers. The "over-the-fence" price (the vendor was run out of the campground) was 5 gallons for about a buck --- Hey Culligan man, are you listening?

Sam the Man getting water. Can this be called "the fresh water black market?" AND is Diane the "look-out" and what is she doing with those bills????

This little paradise is not on our U.S. maps. It is on the coast, 30 miles southwest of Guasaave (Wa-sav-ee) – or N25 degrees 17.8’ – W108 degrees 31.49’ if you’re playing with the GPS.

4/25 - INTEGRITY MEANS AVOIDING any communication that is deceptive, full of guile, or beneath the dignity of people. "A lie is any communication with intent to deceive." Whether we communicate with words or behavior, if we have integrity, our intent cannot be to deceive. - from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
